RESIDENTIAL CABINET

Residential Cabinet

TACTICAL INTELLIGENCE & STRATEGY

The Residential Cabinet is a common household storage container found exclusively inside residential interiors such as apartments, houses, and lived-in urban spaces. Visually, it resembles a standard home cabinet—wooden or metal, often placed in kitchens, up on the wall. It blends heavily into domestic environments, meaning experienced raiders tend to recognize and clear them quickly during room sweeps. Unlike high-risk industrial containers, the Residential Cabinet is fast to open and does not require a breach, making it a low-commitment, high-efficiency loot option. It is typically encountered in clusters across residential zones, which allows for rapid sequential looting during building clears. The loot pool is residential-leaning and moderately broad, focusing on everyday materials and household-adjacent items. Common drops include Fabric, Plastic Parts, Chemicals, Duct Tape, Durable Cloth, Oil, and Tattered Clothes, alongside assorted junk and recyclable clutter. However, it also contains a strong pool of utility and progression-relevant items, which is what elevates its importance beyond simple filler loot. Notably, Residential Cabinets frequently drop quest and crafting-critical items such as Humidifiers, Toasters, and Alarm Clocks, which are often required for progression systems and upgrades. They can also roll valuables (Film Reels, Music Boxes, and Fine Wristwatches) and occasionally higher-impact rewards like mods, blueprints, quick-use items, and even weapons depending on zone tier and RNG. Loot behavior is heavily zone-dependent. Residential-heavy maps like apartments, villages, and urban housing districts tend to produce better outcomes, while isolated or low-tier homes may feel more filler-heavy. Always loot in most situations. Residential Cabinets are consistent, fast, and surprisingly important for progression due to quest item drops. They are not high-risk and not high-reward in a flashy sense, but they are high-value over time. Only skip them in late-game wipes or when you are strictly speed-running extraction with full inventory. Otherwise, they are a reliable stop in every residential sweep.
